The Kerala Vigilance has questioned Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M. R. Ajith Kumar in connection with a case of alleged illegal wealth accumulation. Ajith Kumar has denied the allegations, asserting that there is no illicit wealth and suggesting that the accusations are part of a campaign orchestrated by religious extremists.
Following a preliminary investigation and evidence gathering, the Vigilance took Ajith Kumar’s statement. He categorically denied the charges, claiming the allegations were baseless and fabricated, with no factual foundation. The officer further stated that the accusations against him were politically motivated.
Ajith Kumar also provided the Vigilance with documents related to a house construction in Kowdiar, which is part of the investigation. The Vigilance was granted a six-month period to conduct its inquiry. Based on the evidence presented in Ajith Kumar's statement, a report is expected to be submitted shortly.
The allegations of illicit wealth were first raised by P.V. Anwar, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
