Thrissur: A massive traffic jam has brought vehicles to a standstill on the Mannuthy–Vadakkenchery stretch of the Thrissur-Palakkad National Highway in Kerala, with congestion persisting from early Monday morning. The jam, which began around 4am continued well past 10 am, severely affecting traffic flow.

The worst-hit areas are Vaniampara, Kallidukku, and Mudicode, where construction of underpasses is currently underway. In these zones, vehicles are being diverted through single-lane service roads, which have been further damaged by recent heavy rains, worsening the situation.

Adding to the chaos is the post-holiday surge in traffic, with a significant increase in the number of vehicles using the highway. Notably, the construction of all three underpasses is taking place within a 10-kilometre stretch, intensifying the congestion.
