Alappuzha: Despite COVID-19 restrictions being intensified in Kerala, the protocol was violated at a function here which was attended by ministers.
A tribunal for Alappuzha and Cherthala taluk was held at Lajanathul Muhammadiya School. Hundreds of people gathered to register complaints and accept benefits during the ‘Santhwana Sparsham’ event here on Tuesday. This resulted in the blatant violation of coronavirus protocol.
The violations took place when the ministers were present. The district Collector, district police chief and other officials were also at the spot.
Hundreds of people came to the auditorium and small hall where the event was held. The Officials said that they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people coming to attend the event.
In view of the steady increase in coronavirus cases in Kerala, the government had announced that restrictions will be strictly enforced. Stringent action was being taken in districts including Alappuzha. But the restrictions have been violated in a government event itself.
