Kochi: Kerala High Court questioned the toll collection at Paliyekkara toll plaza without repairing the roads here. The court questioned how the previous contractor can collect the toll if the repairing works are entrusted to a new contractor.
Guruvayur Infrastructure Private Limited has taken the contract of maintaining Mannuthy- Edappally National Highway. However, the company was unwilling to carry out regular maintenance checks and repair work. Hence, the National Highway Authority entitled another contractor for filling the potholes and informed the High Court about this matter.
It was in this circumstance, that the High Court questioned the authority of Guruvayur Infrastructure Private Limited to collect the toll. The court also asked the National Highway Authority to give an explanation regarding this.
The High Court appreciated Vigilance for investigating the irregularities in the road construction. Following a detailed probe, Vigilance had reported aberrations in the construction of 107 roads here.
