Thrissur: A police officer was injured by a murder accused in Chevvoor here. Civil police officer Sunil Kumar of Cherpu police station was slashed by Jino, an accused in several cases. Police are currently looking for him.

A few days ago, Vipin (24), Jino’s relative and son of Wilson was found hanging near the accused’s house. Another relative, who was upset about Vipin’s death, argued with Jino and a fight ensued. The police intervened and returned after ensuring peace. 

However, after Vipin’s funeral, the duo started fighting again. Jino terrified people by driving a car at high speed. Locals informed the police and they reached the spot. It was when they were trying to arrest Jino that the policeman, Sunil, was stabbed.

Sunil was first admitted to a private hospital in Cherpu and then taken to a hospital in Koorkenchery after sustaining a gash on his ear. Meanwhile, Jino absconded. The police have begun an investigation into the case.
