Thiruvananthapuram: A maximum hike of Rs 150 can be expected in the bi-monthly electricity tariff of average households with the recent increase in rate.

20 paise to 60 paise has been increased for a unit of power. An average of 300 to 350 units of electricity is being consumed in a house with three rooms and electrical equipment, except AC. With the renewed cost, at least Rs 1,900 may be the bill for consuming 350 units of electricity.

If the consumption of two months is limited to 300 units, only 25 paise will be hiked. But if it crosses 300 units, an extra 40 paise will have to be paid for each unit consumed.

The renewed rate will come into force from Saturday midnight. Kerala State Electricity Regulation Commission chairman Preman Dinraj informed the consumers to report any complaints regarding the electricity bill to the commission. For this, a complaint redressal system has been set up.

Complaints can be sent to Secretary, State Electricity Regulation Commission, KPFC Bhavan, Vellayambalam, Thiruvananthapuram- 695010.
