Pathanamthitta: The ‘Kerala Shastra Sahitya Parishad’ has decided not to voice its opinion on E Sreedharan’s high-speed railway line proposal quickly. The organisation will give its opinion on the proposed alternative for Kerala government’s SilverLine project, only after analysing the government’s official stand on the project.

It should be noted that the organisation had vehemently opposed the implementation of the SilverLine project citing environmental hazards. They also voiced their demand for broad gauge railway lines in the state and for integrating them with the national rail network. It is known that the latest proposal by E Sreedharan satisfies these conditions put forward by the Parishad.

However, the organisation has refused to comment on the meeting between government representative K V Thomas and the Metro Man E Sreedharan with regard to the high-speed railway line project. They are awaiting the government's opinion on the implementation of the project.

Meanwhile, a section of people in the Parishad, have questioned the feasibility of the project, citing the recent railway tender that was called for straightening the railways tracks between Shoranur and Mangalore. The members have their reservations about the expensive high-speed railway project, when such development works are already being carried out.
