Kochi: Reporter Broadcasting Company MD Anto Augustine has been granted bail by the High Court in a case related to the alleged storage of liquor beyond the permissible limit at his residence.

The court granted bail subject to conditions, including that Augustine appear before the investigating officer at specified intervals. He was also directed not to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence.

Director General of Prosecution T Asaf Ali appeared for the government. The government had opposed the bail application, arguing, among other things, that Augustine had not cooperated with the interrogation.

Justice Kauser Edappagath observed that the court was considering whether Augustine was currently an accused in any other Abkari cases. The court also noted that bail is generally granted in cases involving possession of foreign liquor.
