Wayanad District Collector declares a holiday for educational institutions on Saturday, August 1, following an IMD orange alert.

Kalpetta (Kerala): Following an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department, the District Collector has declared a holiday for educational institutions in Wayanad district on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The order applies to all educational institutions across the district, including Anganwadis, religious learning centres, tuition centres, special classes and professional colleges. Residential schools and residential colleges will remain exempt from the holiday.
In addition to Wayanad, an orange alert has been issued for Saturday across Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Meanwhile, orange alerts remain in force on Friday across Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
