Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for several districts across Kerala over the next five days, warning of widespread isolated heavy rainfall across the state.
According to the weather agency, regions under the yellow alert are expected to experience heavy rainfall measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in a 24-hour period.
District-wise yellow alert schedule
The IMD’s forecast outlines heavy precipitation across various northern, central and southern districts on specific dates.
Monday, October 5: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Tuesday, October 6: Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
Friday, October 9: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.
Local authorities and disaster management units have advised residents in hilly and vulnerable areas to remain vigilant as isolated spells of heavy rain may lead to localised waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
