
Thiruvananthapuram: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) demanded that the Health department secretary should ensure that health care workers are provided all necessary protective equipment including PPE kits.
Human Rights Commission judicial member, P. Mohandas, instructed the principal secretary of Health department regarding this. This is done in the context of the increasing COVID transmissions in the state. The commission also sought a report from authorities regarding the demand of providing medical insurance coverage to all health workers.
The commission has also sought an explanation from the Labour department secretary regarding those hospitals that cut down on health worker’s salary. Notice has been sent to the health secretary, director, Labour department secretary and IMA based on the complaint filed by Expat Legal Cell secretary, Saji Mutherry. The report has been instructed to be submitted in four weeks.
