Guruvayur: Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple Chief Tantri Puzhakkara Chennas Narayanan Namboodiripad (70) passed away. He was admitted to Thrissur medical college and breathed his last in the wee hours of Tuesday.
He was appointed as the Chief Tantri of the temple as Chennas Vasudevan Namboodiripad, the senior-most member of the family and also the former Chief Tantri, passed away on December 13, 2013. He took charge of the temple on February 20, 2014.
He came to the temple for the last time on September 30, 2021 as part of appointing the new head priest. He always made sure that the rituals of the temple are never compromised even during the lockdown.
He was the eldest son of the former Chief Tantri Chennas Parameswaran Namboodiripad and Sreedevi Antharjanam. He was working in Nedungadi bank before joining as the Chief Tantri.
He is survived by wife Suchithra Antharjanam of the Chengannur Mithramadom and son Sreekanth Namboodiripad, who does the tantric rituals in Guruvayur temple.
