Kochi: The High Court has intervened to ensure safety of the woman named Manju and her children who were tortured by anti-socials. The family who live in a Tsunami flat in Kollam’s Eravipuram, were facing the threat of anti-socials who disrupts their day-to-day life in all ways. To avoid their threats, the family had to resort to the safety of the train compartment on Monday. The incident came to the attention of the court by the report published by Mathrubhumi. Now, the court has directed the police to ensure complete safety of the family.

Justice Devan Ramachandran has sought explanation from the police to initiate a suo motu case on the matter. The court has also directed the police to transfer the relevant documents to Justice S Mankikumar, including the media report published by Mathrubhumi revealing the ordeal of the family.  

After evaluating the information and facts, the court will decide whether to go ahead with the suo motu case on the matter or not. The report from the police will be crucial in the process.

In response to Mathrubhumi’s report, several people came in support of Manju and her two children, who were forced to spend their time in train after receiving constant threats and harassment from anti-socials.

The authorities of Farooq College in Kozhikode has announced that they will take care of the education of Manju's daughter who has passed Plus Two. Since she is a softball player, the college had assured her that all training facilities education, accommodation and food will be provided for her. MGM Education group from Kottarakkara also gave a similar promise.

The Kerala Legal Services Authority guaranteed legal aid for the family. KT Dinesh, a trader from Payyoli, will gift Manju’s son a mobile phone for his educational needs. Narayana Panicker from East Hill, Kozhikode also offered aid for their studies.

Gandhi Bhavan and Vaikom Gandhi Smriti in Pathanapuram have come forward to provide accommodation for the family. Women's commission member Shahida Kamal also assured support for the family while interacting with them in Chinnakkada PWD rest house. They will be shifted to Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram.
