
Kollam: Kerala government has sent a revenue recovery notice to A Abdul Sathar, general secretary of the banned outfit Popular Front of India in the case pertaining to the vandalisation of public property during the hartal announced by the group. On Thursday, the district collector issued the notice and the village Officer handed over it to Abdul Sathar’s family in Karunagappally.
Sathar was arrested on September 28, 2022, following the hartal. On September 29, the High Court division bench ordered to recover Rs 5.20 crore from the office bearers of the Popular Front of
India after estimating the loss incurred by the government and KSRTC due to the violence unleashed during the hartal. The court also directed to include Sathar as an accused in all the cases registered in connection with the PFI hartal.
In December, the court criticised the government for delaying the procedures to recover Rs 5.2 cr from PFI towards the damage caused during a hartal on September 23.
