Thiruvananthapuram: The loss estimated by KSRTC during hartal-related violence is likely to go up as the authority decided to temporarily halt operation of the 71 damaged buses. As per the official data, KSRTC incurred a loss of Rs 50 lakh from the attack on KSRTC buses on the hartal day.

It is learnt that loss incurred from non-operation of these services will be accounted as loss from the hartal. Interestingly, KSRTC has taken such a stand for the first time.

PFI supporters had destroyed 71 buses as hartal turned violent. The windshield of many buses was destroyed in the stone-pelting. Sources close to KSRTC confirmed that these buses will resume services only after repair works.

KSRTC will estimate the total loss incurred from the hartal after assessing the loss from the cancellation of services.
