Kozhikode: The state government has given permission to prosecute all four accused in the medical negligence case where a pair of forceps were left in Pantheerankavu native K.K Harshina’s abdomen following a cesarean delivery. Two doctors and two nurses are the accused in this case.

The charge sheet names Dr C.K Rameshan, Dr M Shahna, nurses M Rahana and K.G Manju as the accused in the case. Medical College Assistant Commissioner K. Sudarshan, who investigated the case, had initially submitted the inquiry report before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Kunnamangalam. Based on the inquiry report, the City Police Commissioner sought permission from Kerala DGP to initiate prosecution proceedings against the accused. 

Harshina underwent three cesarean deliveries in total, of which the first two were conducted at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital. The third surgery happened on 30 November 2017 at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Following this, she began experiencing health-related ailments, which later turned out to be due to the presence of forceps in her abdomen.
