Kochi: The High Court has ordered to hand over the key of the St.Thomas Syrian Orthodox Cathedral at Mulanthuruthy to the Orthodox faction within two weeks.

Earlier, the HC had ordered the government to take over the church also known as ‘Mulanthuruthy Valiya Palli’. Following this, the district administration had taken over the church on August 17. Now, the HC has ordered to hand over the keys to the Orthodox faction.

The Jacobite faction had organised huge protests against the takeover of the church. The Jacobite faction pointed out that they have been traditionally offering prayers in the church over the years.
