Thalayolaparambu: A government LP school at Thalayolaparambu in Kottayam depends on a private school to share classrooms for daily classes. The students were left without a school building after the authorities refused to give a fitness certificate to the decade-old building where the school used to function.
Two years ago, the roof of the LP school building was damaged. Following this, the PTA filed a complaint at the Panchayat and tried to fix the issue. However, they were forced to move to AJ John Memorial High School after the government refused to provide fitness certificate citing dilapidated condition of the building.
The students and teachers were forced to teach the students on school verandah when functions are held in the private school. Currently, 80 students are studying in the LP section of the school.
