Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to curb rising ticket prices and ensure equitable access to transportation services, the government has decided to regulate ticket prices for private tourist buses operating on interstate highways.

This move coincides with the implementation of the aggregator policy, which facilitates online ticket sales and aims to regulate the base fare of contract carriage vehicles. With these measures in place, the government aims to put an end to frequent price hikes, especially during festive seasons, providing relief to travellers.

Furthermore, as part of the aggregator policy, all ticket sellers operating through websites and mobile applications will be required to obtain a license. The online policy is also expected to address concerns related to the 'Robin Model,' wherein certain operators accept bookings under All India Permits and operate similarly to route buses. By implementing stringent regulations on online ticket sales, the government aims to prevent such practices and maintain transparency in the transportation sector.
