Kochi: The Kerala High Court allowed the opening and examination of the crypt related to the mysterious burial of Gopan Swami in Neyyattinkara. The High Court took this significant stance while considering a petition filed by Gopan Swami’s family, who sought to prevent the ‘dismantling of the Samadhi Peedham’ (crypt).
In this regard, the High Court has directed the District Collector to take necessary action.
While considering the family’s petition, the Court raised the question of whether a death certificate for Gopan Swami existed. The Court clarified that if the death certificate is produced, the family’s petition would be heard, otherwise, it would be treated as an unnatural death.
The High Court also emphasised that an investigation must be conducted when someone goes missing, and the Court cannot interfere in the investigation process. Furthermore, the Court decided that the District Collector should be notified regarding the dismantling and examination of the ‘Samadhi Peedham’.
