Kannur: A car which is suspected to be used by smuggler and gangster Arjun Ayanki has been spotted in a forest area on the hilltop opposite to Pariyaram medical college here. The number plate of the car has been removed. The police have been searching for the car as it is an evidence in Ramanattukara accident and gold smuggling.

The car was spotted neat Azheekkal port three days ago and it went missing later. The same car has been found on top of the hills opposite to medical college now. It is suspected that the number plate was removed so that it would not be identified by people.

After being informed of the incident, Pariyaram medical college police took the car into custody and shifted to the station. The car was owned by former DYFI leader C Sajesh. It was found out that Arjun Ayanki has been using this car for his criminal activities.

As the number plate was removed, the police identified the car by examining its engine number and chassis number. Even close friends of Sajesh did not know that he owned such a car. It is learnt that Arjun Ayanki has been using the car since the day it was bought.

Earlier, Sajesh filed a complaint with the city police commissioner when the car went missing from Azheekkal. Sajeesh lodged the complaint after the police confirmed that the car was spotted at Karipur airport and it was used by Arjun Ayanki.
