Girl who died of Nipah-like symptoms in Kasaragod turns -ve in preliminary test
Kozhikode: The preliminary test result shows that the five-year-old girl who died of fever in Pilankatta in Kasaragod was not infected with Nipah virus. The result of the TrueNat test taken in Kozhikode Medical college turned negative.
The health department had informed that the RTPCR test result would be available late by night. The district health department informed that there is no need for panic.
The girl died in a private hospital in Kannur on Wednesday at around 7 in the evening. Her cause of death was found to be encephalitis. Nipah test was done after the girl died suddenly, just two days after getting the fever.
The Covid test was found to be negative. The sample was sent for testing to check if the girl had Nipah.
