Thrissur: A 26-year-old woman died after she jumped from a bridge in Karuvannur on Friday. 

The deceased has been identified as Dr Tracy Varghese, an Ayurveda doctor residing at a private flat near Aswini Hospital in Thrissur. 

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. According to eyewitness accounts, the woman walked towards the bridge's centre, removed her footwear and jumped into the river. 

After learning of the incident, Iranjalakuda and Cherpp police rushed to the scene. Later, the body was retrieved from the Pallikadavu area by 3 p.m.
