Ambalappuzha: The CPM probe commission that investigates into the lapses in election campaign in Ambalappuzha in the assembly election, will reach Alappuzha on July 25. The decision of the state committee was discussed in the district committee held on Sunday. However, former minister G Sudhakaran did not react on this matter.

Earlier, the assessment report approved by the state committee had criticized G Sudhakaran for not actively involving in election campaign in Ambalappuzha constituency. Following this, the party appointed the probe commission.

The two-member commission includes central committee member Elamaram Kareem and CPM state secretariat member K J Thomas. They will reach Alappuzha and collect information from the complainants on July 25.

The major topic of discussion in the district committee held on Sunday was the commission’s visit. Among the 44 members of the committee, only five expressed disagreements in the decision to appoint the commission.

Those who support G Sudhakaran opined that the issues in Alappuzha could have been resolved by the party itself. As the seat was won by the party, there was no need to appoint the commission, they said.

Alappuzha MP A M Ariff raised criticism without mentioning the name of Sudhakaran. He said that a veteran leader stated that the party will lose the polls in certain seats and this affected the party workers’ confidence. However, G Sudhakaran remained silent to this criticism.

G Sudhakaran is a state committee member. Normally, the state committee members do not react during district committee meetings, except for responding to individual attacks.
