Bengaluru: Karnataka has launched a scheme to provide free travel for boys also on KSRTC buses, and the distribution of passes has already commenced.

The initiative will benefit Malayali students from Kerala who are studying in various schools and universities across Karnataka. They will be eligible for free passes to travel from their place of residence to their college and back.

Thousands of students live and study in various parts of the State, including Bengaluru.
How to enrol
To enrol in the scheme, students must submit an official document from their college along with a rent receipt or electricity bill as proof of residence.
Kerala’s ‘Priyadarshini’ Scheme
While Karnataka targets student transit, Kerala is focusing on broader demographic mobility through its newly launched Priyadarshini scheme. Introduced by the state government, this transformative welfare initiative offers free travel for all women and transgender individuals—including female and transgender students—on ordinary KSRTC bus services across Kerala. By eliminating daily commuting expenses, the scheme aims to hugely reduce household financial burdens and enhance universal access to education and employment opportunities.
