Former Kerala Director General of Police Dr P J Alexander passed away on Friday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The former DGP was 89 and had been receiving treatment for age-related ailments, according to family sources.

His body has been kept at his residence in Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram. The funeral will be held after his daughter, who is settled abroad, returns home.

Alexander, a 1960-batch police officer, served in several key districts during the tenure of former Kerala Chief Minister K Karunakaran. He played a prominent role in the state police administration during his service years.
