Thiruvananthapuram: The spread of fever and the increase in the number of casualties across the state have been causing fear and anxiety among the people. According to the health department, the state witnessed 11 deaths due to fever on Friday alone. The total number of fever affected people stands at 12,204. Out of this, 438 persons have sought medical assistance with symptoms of dengue fever. 

Though the department has taken enough precautionary measures and the system has been functioning well, the spread of fever has been causing concerns for the health department. On Friday, one person died of jaundice at Malappuram. According to health department, the person died is Ajeesh of Kollam, a teacher of Manavendra Higher Secondary School, Nilambur. He was admitted to hospital with symptoms of jaundice 10 days ago.

It is said that, the spread of fever is causing anxiety in Nilambur and surrounding areas. Apart from Nilambur, fever is rampant in Vallikkunnu, Pothukallu and Edakkara regions as well. 

In Thiruvananthapuram, four more persons have been confirmed to be affected with cholera. According to the health department the persons affected with cholera are inmates of a private institution. With this, the total number of cholera affected persons has gone up to 11. Last week, Anu (26), an inmate of the same institution, died of cholera.
