Kottayam (Kerala): A research student who came to attend a seminar at M G University from another state has filed a complaint against a faculty in the campus over alleged misbehaviour. The complaint has been forwarded to the University’s internal committee.
Last week, the MG University School of International Relations had organised a two-day seminar on the issue of migration. Students from various universities in the country participated in the seminar. The complaint is against a faculty at the School of International Relations.
As part of the seminar, the student had gone with the said faculty to visit migrant worker camps in Ernakulam. The complaint states that the faculty had misbehaved with the student during this visit. The student has also expressed concerns about her mental health following the incident in her complaint.
The Registrar informed that the complaint has been forwarded to the Chairman of the Internal Committee. The committee's report will be submitted to the Vice Chancellor in a sealed envelope. The Registrar also stated that further action will be taken, including lodging a complaint with the police, as per the recommendations in the report.
Meanwhile, KSU has alleged that the university is taking a stand to protect the faculty, given he is a member of the Left teachers' union.
