Panamaram: Pulayamparambil Benny (56) of Nadvayal Cheeravayal, a farmer who sustained injuries while attempting to drive away an elephant that encroached onto his farm, passed away on Friday. Benny had sustained injuries last week while trying to protect his paddy field near his residence from the intruding elephant.
As he tried to scare away the elephant, it dashed towards him forcing Benny to flee. Though he had tried to run away, he fell down when he tripped over the iron fence set up to prevent wild boars entering the farm. Somehow, he managed to run away from the place.
But, the injuries he had suffered in the fall was so serious and was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode. He breathed his last on Friday afternoon. The hospital authorities said that the cause of death was due to infection on the wounds.
He is survived by wife Molly, daughters Amala and Anila. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 pm at Holy Cross Major Archiepiscopal Church cemetery, Nadavayal.
