New Delhi: Congress general secretary KC Venugopal MP said that the Centre had to kneel before the farmers and opposition protests. The central government was forced to withdraw the policies that had troubled the farmers for a year when there was no alternative.

He added that it is a victory of the people, the peasants and the opposition parties, including Congress. Although the decision taken by the government is for their political gains, it is doubtful if it will reflect in favour of the BJP in future elections as everyone knows the reality of the situation. 

He also said that the stand of Congress will always be to stand with the farmers. The Punjab government had decided to withdraw the cases against the farmers and the Congress would continue protests and activities for the upliftment of the farmers.
