Thiruvananthapuram: The estimated budget of CM Pinarayi Vijayan and team’s tour to America and Cuba is expected to cross Rs 2.5 crore. Pinarayi and his team will be in the United States between June 8-13. From there they will fly to Cuba for a five day visit ending June 18. There will be 11 members in the team to the US, while the team to Cuba will only have 8 members. 

The ‘budget’ is allocated for premium air tickets, accommodation and security arrangements. The expensive international trip by CM and his team amidst a deep financial crisis in the state is receiving flak.  

As per the figures released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kerala CM’s trip to London last year had cost Rs 43.14 lakhs. 

Meanwhile, the state government has not officially released the expenses of Pinarayi’s international trips so far.
