Erumeli: A 108-year-old woman and her daughter died here on Wednesday after being attacked by a swarm of wasps. The victims were identified as Kunjupennu Narayanan of Pakanam here and her daughter K N Thankamma (80). Two other people, attacked by the wasps, are undergoing treatment in the hospital. 

The incident occurred around 4 pm on Tuesday when the four were standing in the yard of Kunjupennu's house. They sustained injuries all over their bodies in the massive attack by the swarm of wasps.

Kunjupennu passed away early Wednesday morning while receiving treatment, and Thankamma succumbed to her injuries by noon. The family’s helper, Joy (75), and neighbour Sivadarsan (24) were admitted to Mundakkayam Medical Trust Hospital for treatment.
