Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister George Kurian has announced that the Ernakulam–Shoranur Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train service has been extended to Nilambur. The announcement was made through his official social media accounts, where he also expressed gratitude to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the extension.
As per the minister’s post, the MEMU train service will operate under the numbers 66325 and 66326 on the extended route. He further noted that the decision to extend the train to Nilambur fulfils a long-standing demand of local residents, improving regional connectivity and providing better travel options for daily commuters.
The extension is expected to benefit passengers across Nilambur, Shoranur, and Ernakulam by offering a more direct and convenient travel link, while also boosting socio-economic engagement in the region.
