Mananthavady: Congress leaders expelled the police officers who arrived at the DCC office in Wayanad to offer security, following the attack on MP Rahul Gandhi’s office on Friday. The Congress activists alleged that the attack unleashed by SFI against the MP’s office was executed with the support of police and the party did not need any protection from police force. MLA T Siddique and AC Balakrishnan lashed out against the cops deployed at the DCC office.

AC Balakrishnan shouted at the police that no police officers should enter the premises of DCC office. “Did you provide security to the MP’s office even after the DCC president informed about the possible attack? And, now you are here to offer protection to the DCC office! We know how to protect the opposition leader,” asserted AC Balakrishnan furiously.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan visited the vandalised office of Rahul Gandhi and conducted a press meet at the DCC office. It was soon after this, the police officers were asked to leave the office.

In the press meeting, VD Satheesan accused that the police refrained from stopping the protesters based on the order received from the higher authorities, and now CPM condemns the attack in response to the surging protests against the SFI assaults.

VD Satheesan was irked over the question about rumours that Gandhi’s photo frame appeared in the office only after the attack happened.

Meanwhile, the Kalpetta Munsif Court remanded 19 SFI activists who were under custody in connection with the attack against Rahul Gandhi’s office.
