
Ernakulam: An elephant brought for a temple festival in ran amok in Paravur here on Saturday while being loaded onto a lorry for its return journey. The incident left three people injured and caused damage in the town.
The elephant suddenly bolted, charging uncontrollably through the streets. Its mahout, who attempted to restrain it, was also carried away in the chaos.
Reports indicate that the elephant displayed signs resembling musth, a condition that can cause heightened aggression and make the animal difficult to control.
During the rampage, the elephant overturned an autorickshaw and knocked over a motorcycle, causing panic among onlookers. Forest department and police officials managed to bring the animal under control.
