An elephant crushed a scooter in Kerala’s Nadukani as the rider escaped just in time

Edakkara (Malappuram): An elephant out on what seemed like its early morning walk caused a bit of chaos near Nadukani Pass after unexpectedly bumping into a scooter on the forest road, leading to panic, some damage, but thankfully, no human injuries.
The incident happened around 6:30 am on Monday. The elephant was moving along a road that skirts the forest when a scooter came into its path. There were vehicles on the opposite side, and the elephant, perhaps sensing an intrusion into its territory, moved forward assertively. In an instant, it trampled the scooter.
Sharafuddin, a resident of Karakkode, was riding the scooter at the time. He was on his way from a roadside stall to Gudalur. As he neared the first bend of the Nadukani Pass road, the elephant emerged in front of him.
Seeing the animal approach, Sharafuddin quickly dismounted and fled to safety. The elephant then returned and continued to trample the scooter.
Officials from the Nellikuth forest range arrived at the spot and carried out an inspection.
