Thiruvananthapuram: The electricity consumption in Kerala is at an all-time high due to the rise in mercury levels in the state. On Tuesday, consumer usage reached 4,494 MW in the state and surpassed the previous record of 4,385 MW clocked on April 27, 2022.

Meanwhile, 9.2 crore units of electricity were supplied through the power grid on Tuesday. Additionally, 0.2 crore units of electricity were generated through solar power plants used in homes and institutions.

On April 28, 2022, 9.28 crore units of electricity were supplied through the grid. At the same time, the government is not planning to bring in any restrictions. The Electricity Board had already entered into an agreement to purchase more electricity to account for the additional usage during the summer months.
