
New Delhi: The ECI has announced elections to the three Rajya Sabha seats in Kerala. The polls will be held on June 25. The Biennial election to the Council of States from Kerala will be held following the end of the tenure of sitting members. The list of retirees include CPM’s Elamaram Kareem, CPI’s Binoy Viswam and Jose K Mani, the chairman of Kerala Congress (M). The ongoing tenure of the leaders is scheduled to end on July 1.
June 13 is the last date to file the nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted the very next day. June 18 is set as the last date for the withdrawal of nomination. The polling will be conducted between 9 AM-4 PM on June 25. Following this, the counting will start at 5 PM on the very same day.
As per the current situation, LDF will be able to win two seats, with one in the offing for UDF.
