Minister V Sivankutty faces a BJP complaint for allegedly using official letterhead to seek votes in Nemom, though he claims the letters were sent before the poll notification.

Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint has been filed against V Sivankutty, the LDF candidate for the Nemom constituency and a sitting Minister, alleging misuse of his official position.
The complaint states that letters requesting the support and assistance of voters, written on the Minister’s official letterhead, were distributed to households within the constituency. Adv Prakash R C, the BJP Legal In-charge for Nemom, submitted the formal complaint to the Constituency Returning Officer.
However, V Sivankutty has provided a clarification to the Returning Officer, denying the use of an official letterhead featuring the State Emblem, as alleged in the complaint.
He explained that the election notification was issued on March 15, and that the letters in question were sent on March 6.
The letters were sent to prominent individuals in the constituency, seeking their support and assistance for future activities, well before the notification came into effect, he added.
