A 75-year-old retired KSRTC employee was tragically killed after his head became trapped in a home lift in Pathanamthitta.

Pathanamthitta: In a heartbreaking incident, a 75-year-old man was tragically killed after his head became trapped in a lift installed at his residence in Kadammanitta. The deceased has been identified as Mathukutty, a resident of Kallelimukku and a retired Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employee.
Mathukutty, who suffered from age-related physical disabilities, had installed the outdoor lift to help him navigate the steep incline from the roadside up to his house.
The tragedy
The fatal accident occurred shortly after Mathukutty parked his vehicle below the house and stepped into the lift to head upstairs. In a devastating turn of events, his head became severely wedged in the lift.
His wife found him trapped inside the lift moments later. She desperately attempted to cut and pry open the jammed structure to free him, but was unable to break the mechanism. She immediately alerted the Fire and Rescue Services. Firefighters rushed to the scene, extricated Mathukutty from the machinery, and rushed him to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
