In order to promote use of electric vehicles, Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has come up with a new plan. Reports have emerged that e-auto rickshaws can be charged from KSEB electric poles soon. A pilot project will be launched in Kozhikode next month.
The charging points are set up on KSEB electric poles so that the drivers can easily charge the vehicles near auto-rickshaw stands. The charging points will be integrated with mobile app and drivers can make payment through this app.
Minister for Electricity K Krishnankutty informed that charging points will be set up in 10 electric poles of Kozhikode in the initial phase.
Exclusive charging stations will be set up across Kerala from November onwards. At present, charging stations are available in six corporations. Similarly, installation of 56 charging stations is in progress.
