Kochi: Kerala High Court acquitted 13 RSS activists who were accused of the murder of CPM branch committee member and DYFI leader Vishnu in Vanchiyoor.

Vishnu was hacked to death in front of the Kaithamukku passport office on April 1, 2008. All the suspects who had undergone trial were RSS leaders and workers.

Additional Sessions Court in Thiruvananthapuram had earlier declared 13 suspects as convicts in the case. The sessions court had sentenced 11 accused to double life term imprisonment, while awarded a life term for the fifteenth accused and a three years prison term for the eleventh accused.

The High Court declared a verdict on Tuesday, over the appeal filed by the accused against the order of the sessions court. High Court observed that the evidence produced by the prosecution was insufficient.
