Dubai: A Malayali has won Rs 7.61 crore ($1 million) in the Dubai duty free raffle. Thrissur native Ajith Narendran and a friend together purchased the prize winning ticket.

Ajith, who was an employee at the Abu Dhabi Marriott Hotel,wasa recently laid off due to the economic crisis following coronavirus outbreak here. Luck came his way when he was waiting to be repatriated. He reached UAE three years back.

The second and third prizes at the duty free raffle were also won by Malayalis. T Abdul Jaleel won the second prize of Moto Guzzi V85 bike and Rajesh Balan won the third prize of Moto Guzzi Odes bike.
