Drug haul during night party in Wagamon; resort owned by CPI local leader, say police

Idukki: The police have found out that there are 9 members behind the night party organized at a resort in Wagamon here. In a major drug haul, police seized drugs from here in the raid conducted on Sunday night.

A tip-off was obtained by Idukki SP and others that a drug party will be held at a resort here on Sunday night. Based on the information, the Cliff Inn resort in Vattathal was being monitored by police for past two days. The resort is owned by former panchayat president of Elappara and CPI local leader Shaji Kuttakkad.

On Sunday night, police and a team from narcotics bureau conducted raid here and seized drugs.

Police said that a large party was planned by the 9 people here. They have conducted similar parties before. More information on the drugs are being analysed, they added.

The information on the party was passed on using social media. Around 60 people, among which 25 are women, from all over the district attended. They are being interrogated.
