Thiruvananthapuram: Driving school helpers will be ousted from driving test grounds. Licensed trainers are required to bring the students to the testing ground and sign the register. The guidelines in connection with this will come out soon as part of the government’s order revising the driving test. Only the applicants and the officials will have entry to the test grounds.

The method of starting the two-wheelers beforehand for the applicants and keeping it ready for them before the test will not be allowed anymore. The applicants themselves should be able to start the vehicle and bring them to the ground. At present, the driving school helpers start the vehicles and keep them ready before the ‘H’ and ‘8’ tests. It is the driving schools that decide the type of vehicles used for the tests.

Meanwhile, it was decided in a meeting called by the Transport Commissioner to purchase dual lens cameras for the testing vehicles and to form a committee in this regard was finalised.
