Muvattupuzha: DYFI workers in Muvattupuzha in Kerala made the driver and staff of a private bus drink steaming hot tea as a form of protest for injuring a student.

This incident happened after a student fell off the bus, but the driver did not stop the vehicle. On Monday evening, a student named Arjun fell from a private bus operating on the Thodupuzha-Ernakulam route near Mudavoor.

The bus was slowing down as it approached a bus stop, where many passengers were waiting to get off. As Arjun reached the door to exit, the bus suddenly sped off, causing him to fall and get injured. Despite his injuries, the bus did not stop, and local residents had to rush Arjun to the hospital.

Outraged by the incident, DYFI workers expressed their anguish in a unique mode of protest. They stopped the private bus near Kacherithazham and made the driver and staff drink boiling tea as a punishment. The driver and staff were handed cups of tea and were not allowed to leave until they had finished the entire drink.

DYFI state president Anish stated that this act serves as a warning to all private buses that overspeed and unnecessarily compete recklessly with KSRTC buses.
