Kozhikode: Dr Hussain Madavoor, Vice-Chairman of the Kerala Navodhana Samithi (Renaissance Protection Forum), has tendered his resignation, protesting Forum Chairman Vellapally Natesan's controversial statement that members of the Muslim community in Kerala are receiving undue favours from the state government. Dr Hussain, who also serves as the Chief Imam of Palayam Juma Masjid, dismissed Natesan's remarks as "immature and untrue."

Earlier, Natesan, the SNDP Yogam General Secretary, launched a scathing attack on the Muslim community and the Kerala government, stating that "the Ezhava community turned their faces away from the Left during the polls due to the Muslim appeasement politics of the ruling party."

Responding to these allegations, Dr Hussain stated, "If what Natesan said was true, then Muslims would have voted in large numbers for the LDF in the recently concluded elections, which was not the case. In fact, many in the community feel they were let down by the LDF government on many occasions."

He further remarked, "Pressing issues facing the Muslim community in the state include matters related to reservation, educational facilities, coaching centres, and the problems in constructing religious centres. None of these issues has been effectively addressed. Additionally, attempts to promote LGBTQ culture and gender neutrality topics among school students were rejected by the community. Natesan's statements are uncalled for, especially at a time when it is crucial for the Muslim, Ezhava, and other communities to remain united. Such remarks will only benefit communal fascist forces in the country."
