Thiruvananthapuram: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the K-Rail project comprising of 3773 pages (six volumes) was exclusively accessed by Mathrubhumi News on Saturday. The report, which took two and a half years to prepare, includes a detailed list of buildings that needed to be demolished, including places of worship.

The report also contains an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study conducted by the Center for Environment and Development in Thiruvananthapuram. Further, the DPR provides details of the designated locations identified for setting up the railway stations.

Further, a 620-page feasibility study is also included to identify the changes that will take place if the project is implemented. The traffic survey of 203 pages provides an insight into the fuel and time that could be saved if the project is implemented.

There is also a 974-page geotechnical investigation report and a 470-page trophic survey report. Another important part is the social impact study.

The impact on livestock and vegetation in the areas where the rail tracks pass through is thoroughly discussed in 320 pages. Further, a 620-page feasibility study is also included to look into the benefits of implementing the project. A team of experts led by TR Vinod prepared the social impact study.
