Advaita’s twin sister, Ardhitha, who had the same condition, passed away on Tuesday.

Thiruvananthapuram: It’s not tears that fall when this one-year-old cries — it’s her eyes itselves. Little Advaita, daughter of Saikrishnan and Sajini from Vennpakal, Neyyattinkara, suffers from a rare condition that causes her eyeballs to pop out when she cries. Her vision is also severely impaired, and her eyes remain bandaged at all times, except when she sleeps.
Even seeing her parents is possible only through the thin gaps of the bandage. Doctors have advised that her eyes must be supported with the bandage to prevent them from slipping out.
Advaita’s twin sister, Ardhitha, who had the same condition, passed away on Tuesday. Both children had appeared perfectly normal during pregnancy and at birth.
Medical examinations at Amrita Hospital in Kochi has suggested that Advaita could regain her health through three surgeries, which are estimated to cost around ₹20 lakh.
Saikrishnan, a daily wage worker, is struggling to meet the household and medical expenses. Those wishing to help can contribute to his SBI Nellikoodu branch account.
