Thiruvananthapuram: In a tragic incident in Parassala, Thiruvananthapuram, a 31-year-old dentist was found dead at her residence in the early hours of Friday.

Soumya was discovered with a fatal wound on her neck and was immediately rushed to a private medical college hospital in Neyyattinkara by her husband, Anup. However, doctors confirmed that she had succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. While initial findings suggest suicide, forensic and medical examinations are still underway to confirm the exact cause.

Police sources indicate that Soumya had reportedly been experiencing emotional distress, allegedly linked to personal struggles, including the absence of children after four years of marriage.

At the time of the incident, only Soumya and her husband were present in the house, raising questions about the sequence of events leading to her death. The police have registered a case under suspicious death provisions and are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry. Forensic experts are analysing the crime scene, and statements from family members and neighbors are being recorded to ascertain whether there were any underlying issues or prior signs of distress.

Investigators are also expected to rely on post-mortem reports and forensic evidence to determine whether the injuries align with the theory of self-harm. While authorities currently lean towards suicide as the primary cause, they have not ruled out other possibilities until all aspects of the probe are completed.
